10 quotes that say it all about happiness.

I can (and do) say a lot about happiness. I never shut up about it. My experience with happiness, how to achieve happiness, what constitutes happiness. Et Cetera ad infinitum. You’re all familiar with the name of this blog. 🙂

But many — so many — have gone before me. Folks far wiser, far more evolved, far more brilliant than I, and they’ve all had super smart stuff to say about happiness.

So here are 10 quotes that sum things up. BE HAPPY Y’ALL:

10. “The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy – it’s all that matters.” – Audrey Hepburn

9. “I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.” – Martha Washington

8. “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.” – Abraham Lincoln

7. “The purpose of our lives is to be happy.” – Dalai Lama

6. “Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” – Marcus Aurelius

5. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” – John Lennon

4. “Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” – Omar Khayyam

3. “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi

2. “Follow your bliss. If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people
who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be. If you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that wouldn’t have opened for anyone else.” – Joseph Campbell

And my all-time favorite:

1. “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.” – John Milton
