One size fits all is not a real thing. It doesn’t work for t-shirts, health care or dietary guidelines.
Unfortunately, we live in a society that’s about efficiency, expediency and profits — all enablers of the one size fits all mentality. We’re inundated with “experts” shouting about the latest and greatest; we’re told that it’s this way or that way or no way.
But don’t buy it. One size fits all is easy, cheap and totally disempowering.
Just because someone says a paleo diet is the best thing ever or a medication changed their life or Crossfit is the ultimate exercise, that doesn’t mean it’s true for YOU. Your path might be the polar opposite.
Variations and contrasts and options are what make life worth living. It’s why we live in a world of infinite possibilities. Sameness sucks.
Despite what many people believe, you don’t have to blindly accept what your doctor or personal trainer or stylist or [insert authority figure here] says. Be skeptical, be curious, be an intrepid explorer of you. Does it resonate with you? Does it feel right? Does it bring you joy? These are the questions to ask of everything.
There are billions of ways of being. No one else knows what it’s like to live in your particular piece of the universe. Your inner voice always knows best. Follow it; find your unique brand of happiness and health, and let one size fits all be forever banished to the discount bin.
